About Us

The Methadone Education Project is a resource for clinicians working with opioid dependent patients who are engaged in methadone maintenance treatment, as well as clinicians interested in learning more about methadone treatment.

Initiated in August 2013, the project is a volunteer effort of Jim Anderson, MPAS, PA-C, ATC, and Patricia Devine, MLIS.

Jim Anderson is a Physician Assistant with several years experience working in methadone treatment settings, most recently at Evergreen Treatment Services opiate treatment program in Seattle. He also presents and writes about opioid dependence, addiction, and health disparities. He is a past faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he served patients facing post-operative and post-trauma pain challenges. He's also past chair of the Health Disparities Work Group of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and is also the founder of Physician Assistants for Health Equity.

Patricia Devine is a medical librarian with the Pacific Northwest Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine in Seattle. She teaches and writes about health information and health disparities, is founder of the Health Disparities Special Interest Group of the Medical Library Association, and is a member of Physician Assistants for Health Equity. She teaches about online health information resources to clinicians and the librarians who serve them.

This site is solely the project of Jim Anderson and Patricia Devine, and is not affiliated with any institution or workplace. It is intended to be a helpful resource for providers seeking more information about methadone treatment for addiction.

Neither Jim or Patricia have any financial or other relationships with pharmaceutical companies or vendors.
